Highway Code
One of the essential things to learn ready for your theory test and for general understanding on your lessons. I recommend you read the rules and regulations in your spare time to build your road safety knowledge.
During your Lessons
- Wearing appropriate footwear is essential for your comfort, but most importantly, safety. Flip flops or similar style sandals, high heels and platforms, and shoes with hard, wide or thick soles should be avoided as they may catch or slip causing distraction and delayed reaction time. I'd recommend flat, securely fitted shoes to be worn for driving, such as plimsolls. This way you'll have an indication of how much pressure you're exerting on the pedals and the rubber soles will provide a suitable grip.
- Whatever the weather, it's always helpful to bring sunglasses with you. Even in the winter months the sun's glare can dazzle your eyes, so you may decide to wear some shades.
- Plan ahead. If you know you'll be driving, remember to wear non restrictive clothing so you can manoeuvre freely.
- Be responsible. It's possible to still be "under the influence" from the night before. Drink and drugs can take a long time to leave your system and tiredness can effect learning agility and concentration. I'd like you to get the most out of your driving lessons, so following this advice is key to becoming a safe and competent driver.
